Believers and patriots - Today is a fabulous day.

Most especially of course, because it is Good Friday and Jesus’ incomprehensible love for us allows 40 billion people the opportunity to enjoy paradise for eternity.

Let us not forget however, that only a small fraction of those who walk the earth will be blessed to enter paradise. It is the most tragic of missed opportunities. That missed opportunity is why as Jesus revealed to Sister Faustina in the 20th century He called out, “take this cup from me”.  It was an insight, perhaps no one else had prior to Faustina despite centuries of reflecting on His passion.

However today, Good Friday, March 29, 2024 is a special day in history and a great victory for Christians and America. Beneath the headlines and away from the mainstream spotlights evil is being decimated today.

Consider the extraordinary set up and gift that today is.

To best understand this, let us reflect on the singular spiritual event that has had more impact in the last century than any other. The phenomenon that the Catholic bishops have endeavored to squelch, but like Christianity itself, has grown more renowned with the opposition of the clergy, namely, Medjugorje.

Granted, there have been some bishops who have been supportive of it, and clearly Benedict did us an extraordinary favor by ring fencing it from the evil within the church through his moves to approve it before the phenomenon was even completed. However for the most part, bishops have treated it like the former bishop of Philadelphia, Bishop Chaput, who told the clergy they were forbidden from even mentioning the word Medjugorje from the pulpit.

Brothers – If our bishops hate something so much, you know it is valuable and good.

If one reflects on the greatest miracles since the Ascension, a pattern emerged that all of these greatest miracles have surrounded Mary’s presence on earth, each time calling humanity to Jesus. This history brings the inquisitive Christian to Medjugorje and the set up leading to today, Good Friday, 2024.

On Christmas Day, 2023 Mary, speaking to the world in Medjugorje gave a very different message than her norm. Regularly Mary’s words warn humanity of the power of evil and its attack on believers, attacks on families, and especially our youth. Her messages have given us a battle plan on how to defend vs. evil and repel it from us, but her words have been a constant drum beat, reminding us that we are in the midst of the great battle between satan and her Son, and that the souls of many are at stake.

On Christmas Day 2023, however Mary gave words of extraordinary encouragement to believers saying:

Grace is spreading throughout the world.

In all likelihood one of the primary graces she was referring to was the grace for conversion. While this grace may not seem to be paramount in our priorities, it is the singular grace that is the forerunner to all other good graces we yearn for, such as peace, joy, and prosperity.

From Christmas fast-forward to last week, on the feast of the wedding of the Holy Spirit, also known as the incarnation, also referred to as the Annunciation when Mary said:

 … In this time of grace, pray with me for the good to win in you and around you. In a special way, little children, pray united with Jesus on His Way of the Cross. Into your prayers put this humanity which wanders without God and without His love…

One of the encouraging and uplifting teachings of Medjugorje has been that God desires heartfelt effort, and not debilitating sacrifice in all areas of our lives most obviously seen in its guidance surrounding fasting. Mary has told us explicitly that bread and water is the best fast - far easier than most Christians believed was required to count as a “fast“. In Medjugorje, the locals will make potato bread on fasting days along with other types of hearty bread to give them the nourishment they need for all of the requirements of their blue collar lives while fasting. Adding a little butter or olive oil, and having as much water as you desire, invariably leads fasters to ask the question:

This is so easy, can my fast really be doing so much good that it will impact history and eternity?

The resounding answer from heaven is yes – the key is offering your little fast with joy and recognizing like the boy who had a just a few loaves and fish, it is God who does the heavy lifting when make our little offerings. Each is an act you will rejoice you had the foresight to make throughout eternity when you fully understand all of the people you helped.

This month Mary seems to be taking this a step further showing us that by uniting our little crosses with Jesus’ on His way of the cross, in His great generosity, God is granting us extraordinary graces as if we were actually martyrs. His generosity is that great - in this special time He just asks us to unite in spirit to Jesus’ sacrifice and like boy with the loves He will multiply your sacrifice beyond sacrifice.

How practically do we do this? Simply by praying words such as these:

Lord your way of the cross was incomprehensible love, so difficult and so painful for you. My cross today, (perhaps a person giving you difficulty, a health issue weighing on you, a heartbreak, a missed opportunity, a broken relationship, a disappointment, etc.) is so little in comparison to Your cross. Thank you Father for your extraordinary generosity that by uniting my little sacrifice to Jesus’ that you are pouring out the graces of the martyrs for conversions of those whom you have placed upon my heart and so many others who I do not even know …

What an extraordinary gift – that we can cross into the realm of martyrs, simply by praying from the heart and uniting our little crosses to King Jesus’.

Today, Good Friday is obviously a moment of particular grace as it is the day when God‘s love for humanity knew no bounds. 

Perhaps, as we pray this day, with arms outstretched to heaven as Jesus’ were on Calvary, you can whisper and repeat the simple words

“In the name of Jesus, Father…

In the name of Jesus, Father”…

Each time we whisper these words bringing to Him the names & faces of those the Spirit puts on your heart, praying for a great awakening this day in their souls and in our church, and nation, graces pour from heaven.

In business, financiers look for opportunities to get leverage – where one dollar invested can be combined with five others to create an opportunity.  For a family, a hundred thousand dollars downpayment on a house can be leveraged with a mortgage to buy a $600,000 home.

Jesus’ death of Cross was the ultimate leverage - the life of one spotless lamb, opening paradise for 40 billion souls.

The spiritual leverage available to us this day from our prayers is extraordinary – let us take advantage of this opportunity

In closing as easy as bread and water fasting is each week, today we aspire to fast like Jesus did on Good Friday – nothing to eat, and nothing to drink until midnight. We invite you to join us on this special Good Friday fast, and to pray with us for these graces of conversion.

Wishing you a wonderful Good Friday and Easter. The world will never be the same again because of Good Friday and the pace  of grace has inflected this day in 2024. Praised be Jesus.

1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church.  (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)

2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.

4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
