Christian warriors:

   We hope that all have memorized the verse from Ephesian 6:12:

For our struggle is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities, with the power, 

with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. 

This verse should be engraved on our hearts, because it is why we fast. There is such evil prowling around in the world right now, in secular culture as well as with in the Church. And since most of our spiritual leaders neglect to preach on the spiritual battle, many people succumb to fruitless worry and anxiety. Some pray a little. Some pray more, but very few fast. It is vital in this current moment that we return to the Middle Ages when Christians had a very real sense of the spiritual battle, and prayer and fasting was an essential part of the spiritual life. Thanks be to God, the word is getting out, and others are recognizing the power of fasting and seeing the devious tactics of the devil in erasing mention of fasting from modern versions of the Bible.   

Recently, Life Site News interviewed one of our colleagues to give believers a refresher course on the importance of fasting. Christians must be reminded of the power of fasting especially given the grave nature of the forces of evil gathered on the frontline at the Synod on Synodality, a strange topic if ever there was one. This particular synod seems designed to compel the Bride of Christ to modify some of Her Truths as a concession to the tidal wave of relativism. She will not concede one inch to those demonic twists of truth, despite what some prominent bishops and cardinals (wolves in sheep’s clothing) say.

In his interview, John Henry Westen leads a discussion that delves into the reality that when evil is strongest, Christians must add fasting to prayer. Biblical examples show believers winning every time when fasting was added! For many viewers, this might be the first time they have heard about the obligations of disciples to fast on Wednesdays and Fridays on bread and water. The conversation also heads off at the pass any viewer’s mental justification not to fast by showing how incredibly easy fasting on bread and water is, and broaches how the voice in one’s head saying that fasting is a difficult asceticism is from the devil. The discussion even dispels the oft repeated idea that one could fast from other things such as social media and count it a fast. Fasting as represented in the Bible was never anything other than food.

The interview can be watched here. It could be a good introduction to forward believers who may be wondering how to get themselves and their loved ones out from under constant attacks of evil with the peace, joy and relief that comes from spiritual freedom. Since Lifesite news is fully on board with twice weekly fasting, they are advocating that their viewers sign the pledge to pray and fast in reparation for the deceptions and slippery forked-tongue half truths that will be trotted out at the Synod. Those of us who are already fasting twice a week would do well to offer our sacrifice for the same intention (along with our other intentions of renewing America in every regard and for supernatural protection for those who protect us in the military, fire and police forces). Consider adding your pledge to pray and fast for the Synod here. This spiritual campaign is kicked off by an extraordinarily beautiful prayer by Bishop Athansius Schneider, so please pray along with him.

Lastly, in what we hope will be a source of great encouragement, Westen pointed out that which we should have seen all along: if we take back the Church, the Church can take back the culture.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) We add the new fasting intention of taking back the church from evil. We submit the three-step process to achieve this victory is 1-Repent, 2-Prayer & Fasting and, 3-Imitate our Savior by throwing the evil leadership from the church. We will seek to emulate the Savior in our effort to End The USCCB, an organization that has been devastating to the church.  (“You shall know the spirit by the fruits” - Matt. 7:16)

2) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America, renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

3) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf.

4) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing. 

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land and free them.
