Special Pentecost Update: We Have Nine Days!

"When you pray, pray first for the Holy Spirit because when you have the Holy Spirit, you have everything."        - Medjugorje April 4, 1985

"You have forgotten that through prayer and fasting you can avert wars and suspend the laws of nature."       - Medjugorje Dec. 2, 1982

Thank you to all who fast with us each week, and to those of you who are joining us on this special fast through Pentecost next Sunday for our beloved America.

Per our reminder from yesterday we encourage you to join us fasting for nine days in some way – some joyful sacrifice you can make to the Lord who does so much for us and who deserves our never-ending gratitude.

For those who didn’t see it yesterday, we are pleading with Heaven to pour out the Holy Spirit in a dramatic way next weekend on the anniversary of Pentecost, that the scales will fall from Americans’ eyes as they did from St. Paul’s eyes and we will have an immediate and dramatic hunger to do the Lord’s will.  We are going to follow the Exorcist Fast schedule of one meal through Wednesday, augmented with bread and water. Next Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will attempt to culminate our plea to Heaven with the biblical prescription of the three-day Esther Fast – nothing to eat and nothing to drink for three days. That prescription as used by Esther, Jonah and St. Paul changed the world in each circumstance.

Pray to the holy Spirit for guidance in every area of your life and in this case for how the Lord would have you fast leading up to Thursday and into that triduum ahead of Pentecost. We are expecting the Father will respond generously, pouring out blessings upon our nation and pouring out special blessings upon the families of those who fast at this auspicious moment in the holy calendar.

As we savor the afterglow of Thursday’s extraordinary feast of His Ascension, here are some thoughts we hope will uplift you on this Memorial Day Weekend -

Jesus Christ ascended forty days after His astounding resurrection- an event which left the Apostles transfixed. Jesus simply lifted up into the sky, and they watched Him go until they couldn’t see Him anymore. Gone. What would have been an incredibly sad moment because their beloved Rabbi was gone was not sad at all. Two men dressed in white suddenly appeared beside them and asked them what the heck they were doing just standing there staring up into the sky. “Jesus is going to return the same way He left,” they said. (Note to all believers:  look for Jesus to come back descending from the clouds. Check the Eastern sky every day. Don’t worry about missing His second coming though, because it will be obvious to everyone!) Since their instruction from Jesus had been to go back and wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit showed up, that is what they joyfully did.

The apostles had been housed in the home of a disciple or admirer of Jesus who had lent them his Upper Room for the Last Supper. That locale is where all of the Galileans would have stayed, along with Mary the Mother of Christ. After the Apostles returned to Jerusalem with the exciting supernatural  news of Jesus’ ascension, all of His followers would have been tingling with the excitement of what “waiting for the Holy Spirit” meant. That is the time that we are now in- between the Ascension and the Pentecost in ten days. All those who were in love with Jesus gathered together praying for nine days (the origin of the word novena), fasting, singing, and recounting His miracles and parables. They did not know that they would be together for that long. They didn’t know if it would be ten hours, or ten days, or ten years! But we do. And we know what a powerful experience the descent of the Holy Spirit was. But they don’t know that yet, because they are just waiting and worshipping, doing what they do.

Brothers and sisters, it is important for us to also wait expectantly for the Holy Spirit. We know that He will be like the sound of a rushing wind. He will enable you to speak like you have never spoken before- with no frontal lobe hesitancy, and with supernatural ability to get the Gospel message across to someone who does not speak your language.

The question then is how are YOU going to go back to Jerusalem and wait? How are you going to pray and sing and fast? They didn’t know that it would only be nine days, but you do. Here are some ideas for your consideration:

1)Make a pilgrimage hike to a mountain, and better yet, take some brothers or sisters in Christ with you to celebrate the Ascension.

2)Fast in a serious way for nine days. Do you think that the apostles and the Mother of God were going about business as usual in the Upper Room sending for room service and Door dash? No! Tell your carnal man to stand down because the more you fast, the better it is for you, and the better it is for the Kingdom of God, and the better is it for our country. Lord knows our culture is in a death struggle! Can you fast on one meal a day? Can you drink only liquids? If the answer is no, then ask yourself, “What CAN I do”?

3)Pray “Come Holy Spirit. Renew the Hearts of your Faithful. Enkindle in them the FIRE of your love and they shall renew the FACE of the earth.”

4)Believe and trust what Jesus said- the Holy Spirit WILL come. Jesus said that He had to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come. Maybe the Holy Spirit is just a tiny pilot light there in your soul. But He is waiting to flame up into a roaring fire- just in little old you. Pray for Him to COME! Your life will be more exciting than ever! And the gifts! The gifts that the Holy Spirit brings are incredible.

Thank you for fasting with us. Thank you for all you do for the Kingdom of God. Your reward awaits you in your treasure box in heaven.

Why We Fast – Our Core Fasting Intentions

1) For the Holy Spirit to reign down upon America renewing our land as the Christian, capitalist meritocracy we were founded to be.

2) For the protection of our police, firefighters, military and their families from harm and that the Lord bless their courageous generosity on our behalf one hundredfold.

3) For the protection of the families who fast with us, and for God’s blessings of abundance upon them and that true to His word, we will be able to witness that He prospered us in famine.

Would you like to learn more about fasting?

We maintain a repository of ideas and information we have learned over the last decade while fasting weekly for America. From scientific studies on the benefits of fasting, to the differences between intermittent dieting vs intermittent fasting, to scriptural references regarding the power of fasting to the history of first century Christians who stated believers are obligated to fast weekly, we hope you will find numerous insights with our free resource located here.

Together let us also implore Heaven while fasting for intentions you have highlighted:

4) For Mike Lindell who is putting himself on the front lines suing over the election fraud that has taken place and for all of the warriors who are stepping up around the nation to fight for the gospel – May The Father cover them in the blood of our savior,  protect them and their families from evil and bring victory to their endeavors.

5) For priests, ministers and all who aspire to lead others to the Lord, that the Holy Spirit will reign down upon them as at Pentecost filling them to overflowing with an understanding of what the Lord wants, courage and the desire to preach what He would have them preach and protection and strength from all evil that comes against them.

6) For the Americans jailed after January 6th who were admitted to the Capitol building by the police, and who were not found to have destroyed any property at the capitol yet who have been held captive ever since on our own soil - That God's Spirit will move quickly to bring justice back to this land by freeing them while enlightening Americans how to bring God's justice back to our nation.

7) For young Megan who has an incurable liver condition @ Duke Hospital - Asking the Divine Physician for a complete healing.
